The first step is, of course, to sign up with MailChimp, and that is a very quick process. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes. If you want to know how to do this step by step, then do watch that full tutorial.

So once you have set up your MailChimp account and you log into your account, this is going to be your dashboard area and it might look a little bit different from my screen here, just because I have already set up my audience and campaigns and templates the Thing you need to know is that up here is where all of the magic happens.

So this is where you can create your emails, which you can then send out to your subscribers, and this is where you can create lists. So your audience. This is where you can build your audience, and here’s, where you can see more statistics, and this is where you can access all of your content – that you’ve already uploaded to your MailChimp account so, for example, images, PDF files And things like that now, when you first log into your MailChimp account, the first thing that I recommend you do is to create a list and MailChimp have recently changed the name from list to audience.

It means the same thing, so it means a place where you can store all of your subscribers. Now, when you click on audience, you can see here. I have got two lists that have already been created. The first one has 0 subscribers, so 0 contact and the second one has 1 subscriber.

So one contact now, if you want to create a new audience, the way to do that is to click on this arrow here, on the right hand, corner where it says, manage audience, and then you want to click on view audiences and here, where it says, create Audience click on create audience, and then you want to complete this part here, for example, audience name your subscribers will see this so make it something appropriate.

So, for example, you could say in my case natural a bit a newsletter from default email address. In my case, it would be something like info at natural betta net, that’s. My website address, so I do recommend that you add your website address.

If you’ve got one. If you don’t, you can add a personal email address here, default name again, something that your subscribers will recognize like your personal name or company name here, you can add how your subscribers joined your newsletters here.

You need to add your address, so this is legally required. You can also enable gdpr, especially if you’re, sending your emails to european subscribers. Then that is mandatory and I’ve explained more about this subject in the full tutorial.

So please watch that and here again you got notifications, so you can choose between getting daily summaries, which I do recommend. I don’t recommend one by one, that’s, just gonna bombard your email, so you can get a daily summary of subscribers and nonsubscribers yes, and once you’ve completed that you can save your list.

So let me just go back, will click on audience here again now, once you have created your audience or your list, the next thing is, of course you can add a subscriber to your list, so you can maybe start with adding yourself so click on add a Subscriber and what you need to do here is to add the person’s.

Email address their first name and there are tutorials about this out there. So if you’re interested, then do watch those just type in to youtube, search, MailChimp tags or how to do MailChimp tags, and then now you want to click on this person gave me permission to email them and subscribe.

So this is how you can manually subscribe a person by the way you can also import subscribers. So here it says, input contacts and, for example, you can use CSV or tab the limit, the text files. This is very popular one, and I’ve made a video on how to do this.

I will also link it at the end of this video and in the description box as well. Now, once you have added your subscribers, the next step is to again I’m going here to the right-hand corner. The next step is to create signup forms.

Signup forms are important. This is the way that your subscribers or people can sign up to your audience list so to your list, and there are different types of signup forms that MailChimp offers. They have quite a variety.

The first one is the embedded forms and those are the ones that you can add to your website. For example, then you can also add a pop-up form to your website. This one here form integrations. I think this one is a paid feature, so I’m, not going to go through this one, and then you got the form builder, and this is where you can design your form.

If I click on it, let me just go down. This. Is the link – and you can add this link, like I mentioned to your social media accounts, unto YouTube, and this is the form if you want to know how to edit this form in detail, then please watch the full tutorial.

So here’s where they will add their email, their first name. Then this is gdpr which is enabled, but you can disable gdpr and gdpr just means that you are giving your subscribers a preference on what they want to receive from you.

So not just every kind of email that you offer, but maybe specific ones that they interested in. In my case, maybe they’re interested in recipes, so then they can choose just to get recipe emails from myself now embedded forms.

If I click on this embedded form option here again, if you want to know how to edit this embedded form, then do watch the full tutorial. You know. If you want to have a more customized signup form, you can go to Fiverr and pay someone to help.

You create a signup form, however, you can also use the MailChimp signup form like this one. It’s a basic, but it does the job. What you need to do is copy this link, and then you will need to paste it to your website.

Okay, so this is an example of a sign-up form, and this is the one that MailChimp offers and you can see here. If I scroll up a bit, they have different types, they have the classic one, which is this.

Then they have the condensed one, which is this, so it’s, basically just asking for the email address and if GDP are selected – and that is there as well horizontal is this. So it’s, very basic asking them for the email address and that’s.

That then you ‘ Ve got unstyled don’t recommend this one really looks very old-school, so here are examples of an embedded form that MailChimp offers. Now. Let me just quickly give you an example of a pop-up form, and then we move on to campaigns.

So, like I mentioned, a pop-up form is a form that will pop up when subscribers visit your website. So that can be immediately when they visit, or it can appear after five seconds after twenty seconds when they scroll to the middle or when they scroll.

To the end of the page or on exit – and you can see here – this is an example of a pop-up form that I’ve created. So I’ve added an image here. I’ve added a bit of text. People need to put in the email address here and I ‘

Ve got key DPR options here as well, and the subscribe button now all of this can be edited and in the full tutorial I’ll. Show you how you can edit this pop-up form so do check that out. If you’re interested in adding a pop-up form to your website? Okay, now let me X out so the next step after you have created your signup forms is to create your first email.

In order to do that, you want to click on campaigns. So campaign means you’re, sending an email. Basically, it’s, just another name for sending an email or sometimes people call it newsletter. Again. It’s, the same thing as well.

To create a campaign. You want to click on create campaign. You can also click here on, create and MailChimp offers several different campaigns that you can send. So obviously you ‘ Ve got the classic emails.

So let me click on email quickly. You can send a regular email, which is just basically a manual email that you send to your subscribers. You’ve got automated emails, and this is where you set a time and date.

So basically, you’re, not manually, sending them, and you can also have more than one automated email. So you can have several automated emails, so maybe you send one out when they subscribe, then you send one out the day after with a gift and another one.

So you can really schedule all of these emails to go out whenever you want you ‘ Ve got plain text which I’m, not going to go into an a/b test where you are testing one email against another. I’m, not going to go into that one as well, so you got regular and automated, and these are the most popular and I will show you examples of both in a second, then you’ve got ads and these are creating Facebook or Instagram ads or even Google Ads, I won’t, show you how to do this in this video, just because I think it’s better to create ads with Facebook or with Instagram, rather than with MailChimp, just because Facebook is The main platform, so why not create the ad on Facebook? That’s? My thinking, then you ‘

Ve got landing page, and this is quite a useful feature. I have made a video on how to create a landing page with MailChimp, and I will link that video again at the end of this video and in the description box.

If you’re interested, then we have postcards and you can design a postcard and then literally send it physically to your to your subscribers. And finally, you ‘ Ve got signup form, so in my detailed video on how to use MailChimp, I will show you exactly how to create pop-up forms and embedded forms and also how to build your form.

So please do check out that video, so very quickly. If I click on email here and I’m, just going to call this campaign and begin now – I’m just going to go into this briefly. However, if you’re interested in knowing how to create a detailed campaign with MailChimp, then please check out the full tutorial.

So the first step is to choose your audience and if you click on the arrow pointing down, you can choose from your created audience lists. Let me choose this one here, the last one, so I can create new segments or I can choose from the available segments.

The pre-built segments that MailChimp provides here new subscribers active subscribers inactive subscribers, so I can send emails to any of these segments. If I want and then I can also personalize the to field, so I can add their personal name here.

So if I click on that the merge tag, I can choose first name and then MailChimp will automatically add their first name to the campaign, so that’s quite useful. Let me just save this so from you’ve got my natural eater real at gmail.

com. However, I do recommend that you add your business email here then subject very important part of sending an email, so this might be the first and last thing your subscribers see, depending on how engaging and interesting your subject is and again, if you want to have an Example for the subject and preview text then do check out the full tutorial and finally design email.

So if I click on design email, the first step is to select a template. So I can choose from all of these lovely templates that MailChimp provides the one that I usually go for is the one Colin fool with.

So a lot of template that I have used in the past is the one to column fool with as well. I’m just going to go with the one column fool with as an example for this video. So let me click on that now, alright.

So once you have selected your template, this is your email builder, and here, on the right hand, corner is where you can choose from these different boxes. Once you drag and drop them, you can drop them anywhere here in the email builder area.

If you use your mouse to hover over the different blocks, you can see that you can edit your block by selecting the pencil icon here. You can also duplicate a block or you can delete a block. So say you want to add your logo.

Then you want to click on the pencil icon. Then click on replace so here’s, the area where you can upload your image from your computer. So you select your image from your computer once it is uploaded.

You select it say, for example, this one here and then insert click on insert if you want to delete this area here, for example, click on delete and then again click the and that block will be deleted.

If you want to edit your text, then click again on the pencil icon, and this is where you can add your header content as well as your information here and then, once you are done, you want to save and close they let you save and close.

You & # 39; ve also got the social media, icons here, Twitter, Facebook and your website, and then, if you click on the pencil icon again, you can add your link here to your Twitter link. Your Facebook link here, for example, it’s.

A setting you can, you know, change the layout of your icons like make them bigger, for example, again, if you want to see a detailed video on how I have modified all of these different areas, then please check out the full tutorial now, this last section you Don’t need to do anything because this will automatically be added by MailChimp, so they will add their logo.

They will add your address by default and they will also add the unsubscribe from the list link as well as update your preferences. So they will do that if you have less than 2000 subscribers and you are using the free option of MailChimp, then of course their logo will be at the end of your email, so every email that you send their logo will be at the end.

If you don’t want that to happen, then obviously you will have to go for the paid option now, once you’re happy, you want to save and close. The final thing you will need to do is to send your email or you can schedule it, so you can send an automated email as well.

Now. The last thing that I want to show you is just an example of a automated email and a regular email that I have already created. So if I just go back to campaigns by the way when you click on campaigns, this is where you ‘

Ll find all of your created campaigns and you can also sort them as well, so you can create folders for them. If you want to make it more orderly, which I do recommend, if you’re, sending tons of emails okay, so you can see I’ve added an image got some text here here I’ve got the the header Text I’ve added the name merge tag, which means that MailChimp will automatically add their first name here then I’ve got the button here, which I’ve added.

I’ve used the one two column template. This is why you ‘ Ve got the two columns here and I’ve added another image you’ve got my social media links here, and this is my address and I think at the end you ‘

Ve got the MailChimp logo there you go so this is an example of a regular campaign which can also become a automated campaign as well. This is the second email that subscribers will get when they sign up to my email.

So when subscribers subscribe to my email, they will get a welcome email, so just welcoming them that’s, the first email that they will get and then the second email will go out the day after and this is the email that they will get And basically, they will receive a free gift with 15 free, easy plant-based recipes.

This is an automated email. This is an example of an automated email and if you want to know how to create one like this or similar to this, then again watch the full tutorial. And if you want to access your templates, then this is where you can do that.

So if I click on templates here, so you can see that I have saved some of my emails already like you want to column that I showed you earlier, so I’m going to leave it here. I think this is a good overview on MailChimp and all of its features again, if you want to know exactly how to create a campaign, also how to create a list or an audience and how to set up your signup forms like your embedded, signup forms and Pop-Up forms, then I do recommend that you watch the full tutorial which I will leave at the end of this video now, so you’re, going to see it now, pop-up and also in the description box.

So you can really schedule all of these emails to go out whenever you want you ‘ Ve got a plain text which I’m, not going to go into an a/b test where you are testing one email against another.

Ve got a landing page, and this is quite a useful feature. I have made a video on how to create a landing page with MailChimp, and I will link that video again at the end of this video and in the description box.

If you’re interested, then we have postcards and you can design a postcard and then literally send it physically to your subscribers.

So if I click on that the merge tag, I can choose the first name and then MailChimp will automatically add their first name to the campaign, so that’s quite useful.

So if I click on the design email, the first step is to select a template. So I can choose from all of these lovely templates that MailChimp provides the one that I usually go for is the one Colin fool with.

So a lot of templates that I have used in the past are the ones to column fool with as well. I’m just going to go with the one column fool with as an example for this video. So let me click on that now, alright.

So once you have selected your template, this is your email builder, and here, on the right hand, the corner is where you can choose from these different boxes.

You select it says, for example, this one here and then insert click on insert if you want to delete this area here, for example, click on delete and then again click the and that block will be deleted.

If you want to edit your text, then click again on the pencil icon, and this is where you can add your header content as well as your information here, and then, once you are done, you want to save and close they let you save and close.

You & # 39; ve also got the social media, icons here, Twitter, Facebook, and your website, and then, if you click on the pencil icon again, you can add your link here to your Twitter link.

So they will do that if you have less than 2000 subscribers and you are using the free option of MailChimp, then, of course, their logo will be at the end of your email, so every email that you send their logo will be at the end.

If you don’t want that to happen, then obviously you will have to go for the paid option now, once you’re happy, you want to save and close. The final thing you will need to do is to send your email or you can schedule it, so you can send an automated email as well.

Now. The last thing that I want to show you is just an example of an automated email and a regular email that I have already created. So if I just go back to campaigns by the way when you click on campaigns, this is where you ‘

Ll find all of your created campaigns and you can also sort them as well, so you can create folders for them. If you want to make it more orderly, which I do recommend, if you’re, sending tons of emails, okay, so you can see I’ve added an image got some text here I’ve got the header Text I’ve added the name merge tag, which means that MailChimp will automatically add their first name here then I’ve got the button here, which I’ve added.

I’ve used the one two-column template. This is why you ‘ Ve got the two columns here and I’ve added another image you’ve got my social media links here, and this is my address and I think at the end you ‘

Ve got the MailChimp logo there you go so this is an example of a regular campaign that can also become an automated campaign as well. This is the second email that subscribers will get when they sign up for my email.

So when subscribers subscribe to my email, they will get a welcome email, so just welcoming them that’s, the first email that they will get and then the second email will go out the day after and this is the email that they will get And basically, they will receive a gift with 15 free, easy plant-based recipes.

This is an automated email. This is an example of an automated email and if you want to know how to create one like this or similar to this, then again watch the full tutorial. And if you want to access your templates, then this is where you can do that.

So if I click on templates here, you can see that I have saved some of my emails already like you want to column that I showed you earlier, so I’m going to leave it here.

Number one has been through just building my brand, early on I was using email marketing as a method of brand building by sending around helpful articles and newsletters. Number two I used email marketing as a means of marketing my course on investing in the stock market, about a year and a half ago.

And then recently I have used email marketing as a method of basically taking my efforts for affiliate marketing, and improving them. And number three finally, most recently I have been using email marketing with my blog, investingsimple.

blog, as a means of making money through affiliate marketing, and I actually have different recommendations based on each of these three situations, based on the email marketing softwares or services I have used in the past.

Now my two recommendations here are going to be numbered one, AWeber, which is the email marketing software I am currently using, and I’ll go over a number of reasons why I am using this one specifically.

And then number two, Mailchimp, which is the one that I was using previously when I was doing that brand building for myself and also marketing my investing course. And before we get into the review here, I just want to go ahead and show you guys one item here that’s available through AWeber that I have found to be extremely useful and valuable, regardless of whether or not you’re actually going to go with AWeber or a different email marketing provider out there.

They offer a lot of free information here when it comes to getting started with crafting you’re emails and learning more about email marketing, they offer 45 plus email content templates, as well as a complete course that’s going to show you how to get started with email marketing, that’s gonna be the top link in the description below.

And again, I would recommend that to anyone regardless of whether or not you’re actually going to use AWeber, they offer this completely free to anyone out there who is interested. So first of all what I wanna go ahead and do is log you guys into my AWeber dashboard and show you exactly how I am using AWeber for my affiliate marketing efforts, and actually the different lists that I have created here.

Just to give you guys a quick overview of this platform. Then I’m gonna go into the reasons why I specifically chose to use AWeber. And then we’re gonna transition into talking about Mailchimp, which is my number two pick, and the different types of businesses I would recommend for AWeber versus using Mailchimp.

So first of all, this right here is my AWeber dashboard, as you can see, today I’ve grown my lists by 59 subscribers, 24 yesterday, and I have a total of 3,017. And this right here is a recently sent broadcast email.

So, primarily you can use email marketing softwares for one of two things. Number one, setting up an autoresponder, which is mostly what I’m doing with my email marketing efforts. And then number two, you can send out these broadcast emails, that are going to go right to all of the members of your list, or as an autoresponder is only going to be sending emails to new subscribers on a recurring basis of maybe everyday or every couple of days.

Now, within AWeber you can have multiple different lists, as you can see I have three different ones here, one being my Affiliate Marketing Course list, number two being my Test Group Applications for a course I am launching, and then number three, my InvestingSimple list, which is tied into my InvestingSimple blog.

And then you basically just choose this dropdown menu up top here to decide which list you want to be looking at. So, we’re gonna start off here with InvestingSimple, and I’m gonna show you what my autoresponder looks like, and you view that by just going over here to Messages, and taking a look at the Campaigns.

So, it’s a very straight forward, easy to understand platform. To be honest with you guys, when you first get started with it, it might be a little bit strange finding out where everything is, but once you get the just of it, I have found it to be the easiest email marketing software to use.

And this right here is my basic welcome campaign, and this is what I’m using to basically monetize the back-end of my InvestingSimple blog. Now, in case you’re not familiar with what that looks like, let me just show you guys quickly, we’ll jump over to my blog, and I’ll show you what I am doing to be collecting emails.

Essentially on the homepage of my blog people can click this button to get the Beginner’s Guide to Investing. Once they click that, they’re brought over to a ClickFunnels landing page, which integrates directly with AWeber, and they can drop their name and email to get a completely free copy of my investing book that I put together.

And then after they receive that book, they receive a series of follow-up emails that contain affiliate links for a different brokerages or investing apps, or budgeting apps that I am personally affiliated with, which allows me to make money on the back-end with this email list.

And that’s the best part about email marketing, is that if you’re actually doing it correctly, what you’re making from these emails is going to far surpass how much it costs you for this email marketing service.

Both Mailchimp and AWeber are almost identical in terms of pricing. So, I don’t look at it in terms of price, I look at it in terms of the functionality as well as what type of emails you can send through each platform.

But I wouldn’t worry too much about the price of either one of these, because you’re emails alone should be bringing you more business or making you more money than it costs you to actually have that email service subscription.

And as you can see on the right-hand side here, this is the actual email sequence that people receive, it starts off with the welcome email for the Free Investing Guide, and then it goes into a series of different affiliate related emails, as you can see here, this one has a 32% open rate, 8% click rate.

And I haven’t really optimized these emails, but over 20% in most cases is generally what you’re looking for. And I believe this is a eight or nine day email marketing sequence. And then let’s say for example you wanna switch over to a different list and view, your autoresponder will jump over to my Affiliate Marketing course, and this one is a significantly longer one here where people receive a series of, I think this one is actually 30 emails long.

Now this one I didn’t write myself, I have a copywriter who does some of my emails for me. But the ones from my InvestingSimple list, I absolutely wrote these emails myself, using a lot of those tips from that free guide there, that AWeber has put together on Email Marketing for Beginners, which is going to be again, that top link in the description.

Now I will say this, this right here is the extent to which I use AWeber for email marketing. I don’t get into anything more confusing than this, I basically just setup campaigns like this or auto responders that are going to send emails automatically as people are added to the list, or I will occasionally send out broadcast emails.

I don’t get into tags or A/B testing or any of that, so I can’t speak to those features, because I have personally never used them, or any more types of advanced reporting. But I’ll go ahead and show you guys what these emails look like, and to be honest with you, they are extremely simple.

I will open up the welcome email for the free Investing Guide, and you might be thinking to yourself, well, why wouldn’t I wanna have more bells and whistles and fancy images and pictures, and what I have found is that, the simpler the emails are that you’re sending people, the better.

Because if you send something loaded up with images and flashy GIFs and all this different stuff, it looks like a mass produced email, and I have found less and less people actually open it, so I stick to the very simple text emails just like this, and that is all you ever really see from my email marketing efforts, is just straight text emails, just like this.

So, that is my number one recommendation for people who are doing affiliate marketing or any kind of personal brand building, maybe you’re selling a digital product or building a personal brand online, I would personally recommend AWeber, and that’s exactly what I’m using for these different purposes.

Now we’re gonna get into number two now, and talk about Mailchimp, and you’re gonna understand a little bit more why I transitioned from using Mailchimp to using AWeber for my email marketing.

And if you guys do decide that you wanna sign up with AWeber, I have a link in the description below. It is an affiliate link, you guys don’t have to use it if you don’t want to, but I certainly do appreciate it, as at no additional cost, you can help me out and support my channel for putting this video together.

So here we have the Mailchimp dashboard, I still have my account activated under the free plan, because I just leave it open just in case I wanna go back in here and look at any of the old emails that I’ve sent.

And this is why I really like Mailchimp, is because they offer a free plan for up to 2000 subscribers, and this is great for people looking to get started with email marketing. One downside to AWeber is that after that 30 day free trial, you do have to pay, it’s a certain price per month, and all the email marketing providers out there, they charge you a monthly fee or monthly subscription cost based on your number of subscribers.

Now in terms of the pricing between Mailchimp and AWeber, after that 2000 subscriber threshold they’re pricing is almost identical, but I really do like Mailchimp because they offer that free plan for you to get your feet wet with email marketing.

But I wanna just quickly segue and talk about why Mailchimp may not be a good fit for you. And that is the fact that Mailchimp is best for people who have goods and services or a brick and mortar business.

Maybe you sell shirts online, or you have some kind of online store. Maybe you have some kind of art blog, and you’re looking to send really nice beautiful well crafted emails, because to be honest with you, in terms of the emails you can create, you can make beautiful, very visually appealing emails, but for me, for doing affiliate marketing and building my personal brand, that’s just not anything I’m looking for, because I want my emails to have a more personal feel.

And then the big issue here that I ran into with Mailchimp, is that they do not allow affiliate marketing, which is a huge part of my business. So, after I learn that, I had to mitigate over to AWeber, which they do allow affiliate marketing.

And the reason behind that, is because Mailchimp doesn’t really wanna be associated with affiliate marketing, and that’s unfortunate because, affiliate marketing in and of itself, is not a scam me business or a bad business.

But unfortunately there are people operating pretty shady or pretty scam me affiliate marketing businesses, and that is why Mailchimp essentially had to take out this hard stance against affiliate marketing.

So, if you have any plans to leverage affiliate marketing with your online business, I would recommend AWeber, which is exactly what I use, as they allow affiliate marketing. The other area that you might run into trouble with, which a friend of mine ran into, is if you are sending any emails related to making money.

So I didn’t personally run into this issue when I sent emails about the stock market and my investing course through Mailchimp, but a close friend of mine sent out a free guide on how to make money online, he was not doing affiliate marketing or anything, and he was banned from Mailchimp because it was make money online content, they don’t seem to like, make money online, anything related to, get rich.

They block all that out, because they see it as a high risk category that they just don’t wanna be associated with, because the potential for someone being a scam artist in that category is unfortunately significantly higher.

So, if you have a business, a cake decorating business, something like that, Mailchimp is perfect for you, and you have that free plan available. But if you’re doing personal brand building, if your doing affiliate marketing, anything related to making money, that is when I would recommend AWeber, and you don’t wanna have to start somewhere else, and then get banned or have to mitigate and switch over to a new email marketing service, it is a huge pain in the butt.

But overall, I will say this, Mailchimp has a very sleek design. And then another pro that I have here for Mailchimp, one of the reasons why I like them, is that they offer build-in landing pages that honestly look pretty good.

I’ll go ahead and show you one that I had created at one point when I was offering a Passive Income Masterclass event. This is right through Mailchimp, it’s not ClickFunnels, it’s not anything else, and it’s included with even the free plan, so you can have landing pages where you can collect emails.

Otherwise, if you use something like AWeber, you’re gonna have to go through a separate landing page provider like ClickFunnels, however, they have the best landing pages out there, so I would actually recommend that route if you’re serious about having high converting landing pages.

But if you’re just getting started, Mailchimp does offer basic landing pages that I have found to be pretty effective and it’s an added bonus that I really enjoy about Mailchimp. So, basically the two pros here for Mailchimp are that they offer, the free plan up to 2000 subscribers, and they offer built-in landing page, but the huge con is that they do not allow affiliate marketing, they have a hard stance against it, and they also don’t like people sending out emails related to making money, get rich, anything in that category.

So, if your business is related to that, I would stay away from Mailchimp and personally I would use AWeber. But anyways guys, that’s gonna wrap up this video. That is in my opinion the two best email marketing softwares out there right now.

Like I said, if you wanna go ahead and grab that free guide from AWeber, that also comes with the 45 plus email templates, and a free course, that’s the top link in the description below. And I also have an affiliate link if you decide that you do wanna sign up for AWeber.

I’m not affiliated with Mailchimp, I just think they are a great service that I used in the past, so I don’t have any links for them. But other than that, if you do decide to use AWeber, that’s an option if you guys decide that you wanna use my link.

we’re going to be talking about automated emails through MailChimp. Sounds like fun? Stayed tuned, it’s coming up next. One of the best ways that you can communicate to your email list, especially a person who’s just signed up, is with automated emails.

It’s a very unique experience that you can control the messaging to that particular person or persons when they sign up. So MailChimp does a great job of organizing that into a system that you can pretty easily follow.

So some of the examples of an email sequence in our case, that we use it for, are an onboarding system. So a person joins our association as a member, and we have a sequence of emails that they receive over a period of about three or four weeks that they get messaging that allows them to take action on certain things so that they feel comfortable and know their way around the membership website.

So that’s one thing you can do. Another thing you can do is, and I’ve seen this done, is a person, after a seven-week automated sequence, you get one email per week, at the end of the seven weeks, you get a test.

So you can use it as a self-study test exam type of situation. So those are just a couple of examples, you can use your imagination, but the key point here is that you communicate effectively to the people that are on your email list.

And once you set it, you can forget it. You might be able to, you might want to tweak it from time to time, especially if the content that you’re sharing changes or is outdated, but for the most part, it is a set it and forget it type of situation.

So, let’s dig in and set up some automated emails on MailChimp. So to create our automated emails sequence or automation emails, you got to first select the email list that you want to set this up for.

So I’m going to select this list here, and I’m going to go to Create Campaign. So I’m going to click on an email, and then from the list up here, in this horizontal list, I’m going to select Automated, and it’s going to say, what type of Automation Email do you want to create? These are things that are preselected for you.

You can certainly go in and edit these. So you can welcome new subscribers. If you have E-Commerce, you can thank first-time customers. You can enable order notifications, and I’m going to go back to Featured, and I’m going to click on Welcome new subscribers.

Going to keep the Campaign Name, Welcome message. You can change that to anything, it won’t be seen by your email list. I’m going to select my list again. Click Begin. Now you’re presented with a trigger, so it’s called a workflow recipe.

So it has a trigger and then an action. So the trigger is, one day after subscribers join your list they will get this email. And that’s fine, if you wanted to edit that, you click on the Edit next to the one day trigger, and select how many days, weeks, hours, or immediately, or trigger when subscribers are imported.

So if you’ve got people outside your mail list, and you import them in, they’ll start that sequence when they come in. But I’m going to cancel that, I want to do the one day after. So we’ve got a summary here.

We have a schedule, every day, all day. So if you wanted to only do specific days, you can edit that. You can filter by segment or tag. Now, I’ve talked about segments, I haven’t talked about tags, because that’s relatively new to MailChimp, but if you’re familiar with that, you can edit it there.

And you can do post-send action. So from here, if that’s all set and ready to go, we can click on Design Email. And again, with the name of your email, you can name it to anything you want. So I can do SMS Welcome.

My email subject is Welcome to Strategic Marketing Solutions. I really usually don’t do a preview text. The name is from Larry Snow, and it’s from a verified email domain, carry snow. me. And for Google Analytics, you definitely want to include something here, so you probably want to do SMS, Welcome, I like to do underscores, Welcome_Message.

Now at the very bottom, on the bottom-right, you want to click Next. Now you have a choice of selecting a template. So you have different layouts. Of course, if you’re familiar with MailChimp, this is second nature to you, but you have different layouts.

You can do basic one column, simple text, you can do a themed type of thing. They have a choice of some themes here that you can pick out. Or you can do saved templates, I’ve saved a few through the years, always changing things.

And you can select from one of your campaigns, which is really neat. So we’ve sent out several campaigns, and we can select from one of those. Or you could code your own. So you can import, update, import from a zip, import from a URL, or paste in the code.

I usually stick with the layouts, and it’s usually either Tell A Story or Educate. I’m going to go with Educate. And of course, you want to design it so it matches your brand, and your style, and colors, and all that, and of course, you want to share your message for whatever automated email you’re going to be sending.

I’ll just insert my logo. Alright, we have our logo in there, and we can cinch this up a little bit to give more room to text, so people don’t have to scroll that much. And we can put in some information here, something like Welcome to SMS.

I’m not going to finish this in this video, but this is just to give you an idea. So you want to say something like hello and welcome to Strategic Marketing Solutions So I won’t bore you with going into any more of the details here, but, the thing I’m trying to communicate here is that with these automated emails, you want to make sure that you’re communicating effectively and precisely so people just don’t get bored and click Delete.

One of the things that I recommend is that you put in who you are, what you’re all about, what do you do, what qualifies you to do it, why did they join this email list? Thank them for joining this email list, set the expectations of the type of emails that they will be receiving.

If you have other automated emails, let them know that they’ll be coming along in the next coming weeks, they’ll be getting a series of automated emails. And put in your contact information, everything that you can do so that they have all the answers that they need, and make sure to include, to click the ability to click reply, so they can reply to you and get their questions answered, okay? I’m not going to do any of that here, because I’d be here for an hour trying to go through all that for you, but I just want to communicate that out to you that that’s the type of content that I would put in and I would recommend for you.

So I’m going to eliminate all this stuff that we’re not going to be using. Alright. Okay, and then I’m just going to click on Save and Continue. And here’s where you can add on other emails, so if I click on Add Email, it’ll save Automation Email #2, and you can edit that.

You can also edit the trigger. So right here, it says one day after subscribers are sent the previous email, so you probably want to change that and say maybe a week, one week later they’ll get another email, it’s entirely up to you.

And then you just click on Update Trigger. And when you want to schedule it, so the same application as the first trigger, and of course you want to go in and design your email again. So I’m just going to delete that now, so we don’t get stuck with anything here, and I’m going to click on Next.

It’s going to say, ready to send, review your workflow, and I’m not going to click on Start Sending just yet. As you can tell, I’m not ready to send it to my email list, but that’s something I’ll be working on.

And if you want to subscribe to my email list, you can click on the link below in the description and fill out the form, and you’ll be on the list, and pretty soon, you’ll probably get these automated emails.
